@westfox35@stux I recently escaped to hetzner over Akamai jacking up all the prices dramatically after buying Linode.
This stuff will absolutely kill the federation for anyone running more than single user instances, or anyone trying to relay with enough instances to be useful
I have a fairly beefy dedicated server for this iceshrimp instance. But if I was running mastodon where it would benefit from multiple sidekiq servers, I'd probably just VPN a bunch of my home hardware over wireguard to this dedicated server. 1Gbps fiber at home is awesome.
But yeah, if I was renting everything and running a large mastodon instance like Stux is I'd probably be feeling very angry right about now at the hosting market.
