Since you mentioned some hashtags (and now I know what those mean 😀): hashtags kinda work on Mastodon but you don't always get everything. One thing to do use hashtags to find people who post about what you're into, and then follow those ppl directly.

@14mission @nemodevo You do get everything if you follow a relay on your instance. Well, MOST of everything.

That said, since it doesn't look like Steve is the admin of retro.pizza, that wont really fly.

You could, however, follow bots that boost specific hashtags.

Just my two cents.

@14mission @nemodevo The bots do exist but finding & understanding them is kinda a PITA.

For the relay, you can go to fedibuzz and follow the hashtag directly.

This requires you to be the admin of the instance, though. And IIRC fedibuzz kinda gets a negative rap. At least, last I checked.

Point is, though. There are options.
