Worker solidarity tip: Gig workers have their tips stolen by apps that control their wages, automatically lowering their pay rate whenever tips are paid through the app. So, whenever possible, tip in cash!

@constancebello I worked for uber for a while a long time ago.

I had 2 people tip me cash out of x amount of rides (thousands).

If I still worked for them and you tried tipping me cash I'm going to assume it's something weird or some kind of sting...

@westfox35 Yes, it's statistically unusual - the apps incentivize doing it the way that's convenient for the rider and allows them to steal even more wages, and they are far from the only institution encouraging card use and pushing cash to the margins.
